Laurene Powell Jobs is best known as an American billionaire, a businesswoman, and the founder of the philanthropic organization, Emerson Collective. She is also the widow of Steve Jobs, the co-founder and former CEO of Apple Inc. The West Milford, New Jersey native earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in economics from Wharton. She ultimately earned her MBA from Stanford, the university where she met Steve Jobs. The two were married 1991. Their first son, Reed, was born that year, followed by daughters Erin in 1995 and Eve in 1998. Laurene is also stepmother to Lisa Brenen-Jobs, Steve’s daughter from a previous relationship. In 2004, Laurene established the Emerson Collective, one that works in education and immigration reform, social justice, and conservation. She is also active in other philanthropic efforts and is a known mega-donor to the Democratic party.
