Kesha was born Kesha Rose Sebert in Los Angeles, California on March 1, 1987. She is well known for her breakout hit TiK ToK, which remains one of the highest-selling digital singles to date, selling over 14 million copies internationally. She earned No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 with Animal in 2010 and Rainbow in 2017, followed by High Road in 2020. In 2023, she released the more introspective Gag Order, and in July 2025 she ushered in a new era with (PERIOD), her first fully independent album under her own label.
She has attained multiple top-ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including Blah Blah Blah, Your Love Is My Drug, Take It Off, Blow, Die Young, My First Kiss with 3OH!3, We R Who We R, Right Round with Flo Rida and Timber with Pitbull. Over the years, Kesha has expanded her creative reach, collaborating across genres and continuing to tour globally, including recent international dates supporting her independent era. She has also written songs for other popular artists, including Britney Spears.
Kesha went through a volatile and very public legal battle with producer Dr. Luke beginning in 2014 after alleging sexual assault and abuse, a lawsuit that was ultimately settled in 2023. Since regaining full creative control of her career, she has spoken openly about artistic freedom and resilience, embracing what she calls a new chapter as an independent artist.
