Jon Bon Jovi Then & Now: Photos of the Rocker From His Young Days to Now

Jon Bon Jovi has been rocking out since he was a teen, so it’s hard to believe he’s 64 now! Celebrate his birthday with a look back at his best photos of all time.

With his signature voluminous hair and unmistakable vocals, Jon Bon Jovi has been captivating audiences for more than four decades. Born John Francis Bongiovi Jr. in New Jersey, he began playing piano and guitar as a teenager and cut his teeth performing with early bands before forming Bon Jovi in 1983. The group broke out with their 1984 single “Runaway,” which cracked the Billboard Hot 100 and introduced the world to their anthemic rock sound.

Their 1986 album Slippery When Wet catapulted the band into global superstardom. Selling tens of millions of copies worldwide, the record produced era-defining hits like “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer,” cementing Bon Jovi as one of the biggest rock acts of the decade. Over the years, the band continued to evolve with albums like New Jersey, Keep the Faith, and It’s My Life, maintaining their stadium-filling status well into the 2000s and beyond.

In the 2020s, Jon faced one of the greatest challenges of his career — undergoing major vocal cord surgery in 2022 that threatened his ability to sing. After months of rehabilitation, he and the band returned with their 16th studio album Forever in 2024 and then a star-studded expanded edition titled Forever (Legendary Edition) in October 2025, featuring collaborations with artists like Bruce Springsteen, Jelly Roll, Robbie Williams and Avril Lavigne.

Offstage, Jon’s family life has also been in the spotlight — in 2025 his son Jake Bongiovi and wife Millie Bobby Brown welcomed a baby girl, bringing new joy to the rock icon’s personal world.

Beyond his music, Jon’s achievements include induction into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, enduring philanthropy, and a legacy that continues to inspire generations of fans.
