The Cast of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series — The Wildcats are back! Fans of ‘HSM’ are flocking to Disney+ on Nov. 12, hugely in part because of the premiere of the new show, ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’. Members of the cast came to the HollywoodLife NYC studio to chat about the exciting new series and share some behind-the-scenes secrets of how it all came together.

Here, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Renee, Frankie Rodriguez, Mark St. Cyr & Kate Reinders all smile wide ahead of our interview, where we discussed everything from the show’s premiere, to the unexpected romances, to perhaps seeing the cast take the show on the road after the season is wrapped. Of course, there is already a ton of buzz around the show already, as Disney+ picked up the series for a season 2 before the show even started streaming.

But right now, the cast is just excited for people to finally see season 1, as they filmed the series on location in Utah almost a year agao. Click through the gallery to see more incredible shots from the shoot, as well as snippets from our interview about the show.

Mark St. Cyr & Kate Reinders — “Mr. Mazzara has his convictions and he bases those convictions off logic,” Mark said. “Throughout the course of the season, there will be plenty of instances where his logic is challenged and his convictions are challenged. And you’ll have to see how much he’s able to hold on to his original viewpoint and how his viewpoint evolves over the ten [episodes]. But he definitely goes through an evolution.”

Joshua Bassett & Matt Cornett — “It makes it so much fun because we get along so well,” Josh said of his character’s on-screeen feud with Matt’s character, EJ. “He’s one of my best friends. When we get to dig into each other on-screen, it’s really fun to really lean into that.”

The Cast of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series — “This show is about finding your tribe,” Larry Saperstein said. “It’s about finding the group of people that make you spark, and that make you be a better person. So, yes, Big Red, but also every single character gets to really explore that through musical theater and through this community of the drama club at East High. And that’s something that’s just really important about the series and really exciting to be able to portray.”
