Green Day Then & Now: Photos of the Band’s Transformation Over the Years

Green Day has introduced us to some of punk rock’s biggest hits, from ‘American Idiot’ to ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams.’

Green Day is hailed as one of the greatest rock bands by multiple generations. After starting out in 1987 under the name Blood Rage, followed by Sweet Children, the band landed on its final name and introduced the world to some of the most popular rock anthems, such as “Holiday,” “American Idiot,” “Basket Case,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and several others.

Thanks to their incredible and steady success throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Broadway adapted the band’s album American Idiot for a stage production in 2010. By 2015, the current members of Green Day — Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool — were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As they continue to record and release new music, fans love seeing how much they band has changed in their music style.
