Have you been dying for a sequel to the 1988 comedy Coming To America since it came out? You’re in luck! In March 2021, the sequel Coming 2 America was released, 33 years after the original debuted. While the original director, John Landis, didn’t return for the sequel, most of the original stars made appearances in the 2021 comedy, most notably the star Eddie Murphy. Alongside familiar faces like James Earl Jones and Aresnio Hall, plenty of new actors joined the cast for the reboot, like Tracy Morgan and Teyana Taylor.
The sequel takes place 30 years after the original movie, and it follows Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy), as he returns to Queens, at the request of his dying father King Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones). The hilarious sequel was first made available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on March 4, 2021.
