David Beckham is best known as a former professional soccer player for England. Born in England in 1975, Beckham is one of the most celebrated professional football players (aka “soccer” to the Americans) in the world.
He’s the first English player to win league titles in not one, but four countries: England, Spain, the United States and France. Throughout his career, he played for major European football clubs including Manchester United, Preston North End, Real Madrid, Milan and the English national team (to name a few). His career lasted 20 years, and he won 19 major trophies. Beckham retired in May 2013.
