Danielle Brooks is a talented actress best known for her role as Taystee on the hit Netflix series ‘Orange Is The New Black.’ She starred in the series from 2013 to 2019. Taystee was a beloved fan-favorite. In addition to ‘Orange Is The New Black,’ Danielle also starred in the 2015 Broadway production of ‘The Color Purple’ with Cynthia Erivo and Jennifer Hudson. She played Sofia and earned a Tony Award nomination. In 2020, she appeared in an episode of ‘Social Distance’ and in the comedy special ‘Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine.’ She currently is the voice of Pearle in the TV series ‘Close Enough’ and is filming the upcoming HBO Max series ‘Peacemaker’ with John Cena. In July 2019, Danielle announced she was expecting her first child. She gave birth to a daughter named Freeya in November 2019. She married her daughter’s father, Dennis Gelin, in 2022.
