Blake Lively, 23, always looks amazing as she cruises the streets of NYC on Gossip Girl. How does her makeup always look so perfect? We speak with celebrity makeup artist Autumn Moultrie and Dior makeup artist Ricky Wilson to get expert tips on choosing the right foundation!
Sometimes our eyes play tricks on us and we fall victim to the wrong foundation color — bringing out the contrast between our face and neck. Eww! Autumn suggests selecting your foundation color in daylight: “Choose the color that ‘disappears’ into your skin.”
Autumn’s Expert Tip: “Concealer, usually one to two shades lighter than your foundation color, can be used under the eyes to open and lift the eye area. It can also be used to cover all blemishes and/or redness.”
There’s a reason to wear different varieties of foundation — Ricky looks at it as a seasonal item like clothing: “If foundation was fabric in the summer it should feel like wearing silk. You would not wear winter clothes in the summer, so why would you stick to your full- bodied winter foundation?”
Ricky gives insight on keeping your makeup intact. “My rule for choosing foundation is the more you put on, the more it needs to be maintained. I like to blur imperfections with a lightweight foundation and polish with a spot-correcting concealer. ”
Ricky’s Expert Tip: “I am not a really big fan of setting powders, so if the skin gets oily during the day I like to absorb it with blotting tissues.”
