Yung Miami, 29, announced that she and Diddy, 53, went their separate ways after confirming their romance in 2022. “We’re still friends! We’re still good friends! But we’re single. That’s not my man. We had our own situation, I’m not gonna put a title on it,” she told The Cut in an April 2023 interview before hinting that they were quite serious at one point. “We were f****** with each other hard. We were together every day at one point. He supported me, I supported him. I’ll let the internet call it whatever they want to call it.”

The “I’ll  Be Missing You” hitmaker and “Ex For A Reason” rapper originally made headlines for a reported romance in 2021, but didn’t publicly reveal their romance until the following year. “We’re dating,” Diddy said on the premiere episode of Miami’s podcast, Caresha Please. “We go have dates. We’re friends. We go to exotic locations. We have great times,” he added. He later told her that he’s attracted to her because she’s “authentic”.

It’s unclear why Yung Miami and Diddy broke up after seemingly enjoying their time together so much, but Miami seems to be at peace with the split. Here’s what you should know about the rapper.

Yung Miami Is One Half Of ‘City Girls’

Yung Miami, whose birth name is Caresha Romeka Brownlee, is famous for making up the rap duo City Girls with JT. The rappers, who both hail from Miami, have achieved meteoric success since signing with Quality Control at the end of 2017. In 2018, they were featured on Drake‘s viral hit “In My Feelings” and released their debut albums Period and Girl Code. Girl Code contained two major hits: “Act Up” and “Twerk”, which was a collab with Cardi B. You can watch the music video for “Twerk” above!

Yung Miami and JT have already released a sophomore album, City On Lock, and have gained considerable attention for more songs like the “P**** Talk” remix with Doja Cat and “Twerkulator.” Their next project is due in 2023.

Yung Miami & JT Are Real Life Best Friends

Yung Miami and JT’s relationship goes beyond just being rap partners; They met in middle school while living in the Miami-Dade county. “Caresha was one of those young ‘It’ girls. I was like, ‘Yo, she lit as f***!’,” JT said as she recalled meeting Yung Miami when they were just kids in a Jan. 2020 interview with Billboard. Yung Miami and JT didn’t try out music until 2017, when they wanted to write a diss track.

“We’ve been childhood friends since middle school. We never planned on doing anything together. One day she called me: Let’s make a song,” Miami said in her chat with The Cut of how the group came to be. “We were just playing around and it blew up. But we never planned to be artists or rappers or a rap group.”

Yung Miami’s Godmother Is Trina

Trina, who made a name for herself in hip hop with her debut album Da Baddest B-tch in 2000, is Yung Miami’s godmother! “Trina’s like my God-mom, you know. Trina grew up like raising me. Like her and my mom was friends back in the day. So it’s like you know she raised me,” Yung Miami told Power 99‘s Roxy Romeo and Cappuchino in 2018.

Yung Miami Previously Dated Southside

Yung Miami famously dated producer Southside, a 34-year-old music producer who co-founded the record production and songwriting team 808 Mafia. They’ve had an on-again, off-again relationship; Southside (whose real name is Joshua Howard Luellen) first confirmed they split in Dec. 2018. After reuniting shortly afterwards, they split again in Sept. 2020.

Yung Miami Has Two Children

Yung Miami welcomed a daughter, Summer Miami, with Southside in Oct. 2019. She also welcomed a son, Jai, with a man named Jai Wiggins who was fatally shot in 2020. Yung Miami paid tribute to the late father by sharing photos of Jai with their son shortly after the tragedy. In the caption of the since-deleted post, she wrote, “Babies 1st words are DADA & that’s what you are a FATHER to Jai. You & Jai is peanut butter & jelly always together one thing about you, you don’t play about your son! So humble, quiet & uplifting. I hate this happen to you Jai you didn’t deserve this! Jai need you.”
