Brandi Mallory, who was a contestant on season 4 of Extreme Weight Loss, has died at the age of 40. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE that Brandi died on November 9 in Stone Mountain, Georgia. A cause of death has yet to be revealed. Brandi’s funeral will take place November 19 in Lithonia, Georgia, according to her obituary.

Brandi took viewers through her battle with her weight when she appeared on the reality series in 2014. She went into the show weighing 329 pounds — the heaviest she ever weighed. She lost 151 pounds during the show and came out of it weighing 178 pounds.
In a 2018 interview with Atlanta journalist Kirby Carroll, Brandi revealed she originally applied for The Biggest Loser, but producers instead sent her details about Extreme Weight Loss. She said she was inspired to do the show after her sorority sister died at the age of 29.
“I was literally waking up every day like… this may be my last day waking up, like, I don’t know what’s going to happen for me,” Brandi explained. “When it’s playing on your mind that I might need to do something about my weight, because I’m afraid I might die too, then you might need to pay attention to something like that.”
Brandi continued working out after her time on Extreme Weight Loss. She posted videos of her workout routines on her Instagram. She did a rigorous workout on September 12, less than two months before her death.
Brandi was working as a makeup artist at the time of her death, her Instagram shows. Brandi seemed extremely passionate about her career.
Brandi still has an Instagram account with over 135,000 followers. She would post about her workouts and her makeup jobs. She’d also document her fun nights out with her friends. Brandi was very into fashion, as well, and showed off all her gorgeous looks on her Instagram. After her death, her followers flooded the comments sections sharing their devastated reactions to the news.
