  • Alev Aydin is most known for his relationship with singer Halsey
  • The pair were first linked in 2019 and welcomed a baby in 2021

  • Halsey and Alev split in April 2023, but they plan to co-parent amicably

Halsey surprised fans in Jan. 2021 when they revealed they were pregnant with Alev Aydin, whom they had been quietly dating since 2019. The “Without Me” hitmaker, 28, and Alev, 40, surprised fans again when news of their separation made headlines on April 25, 2023, with reports saying that Halsey requested full custody of their 1-year-old child, Ender, in a Los Angeles court. And although the request made it appear that Halsey and Alev ended on rough terms, it’s quite the opposite, according to an EXCLUSIVE HollywoodLife insider.

“Their split was completely amicable,” the source revealed to HL. “And she only filed for sole custody because she’s going on tour and Ender will be with them. But they are planning to co-parent their son together. It was just a formality that needed to be done, so she could take Ender with them.”

Although Halsey and Alev kept their relationship private, Alev hasn’t gone completely under the radar. Learn about Halsey’s ex and father to her only child below.

Alev Is A Creative

With one look at Alev’s Instagram page and his IMDB profile, it’s clear that he’s a man of many talents. He’s a Turkish-American director, helming the camera for a pair of shorts – “Felly” and “HipMen: Los Angeles” – plus Halsey’s 2022 music video for “So Good”, in which he appeared on cameras as well. He has acted in front of the camera in a few episodes of General Hospital and movies like Lonely Boy (2013) and Cruel Hearts (2018). His largest producing gig came with the 2017 TV series, Small Shots, plus Halsey’s above-mentioned video. He also wrote the series, as well as the 2013 web series, Turbo and Joey. The series follows Jeremy Luke and Joey Russo, two Staten Island natives, as they try to be seen for the new Joe Pesci movie.

Alev And Halsey Met Through Work

Halsey’s pregnancy news came as a total shock – which is why she called it a “surprise” when she announced it. However, this wasn’t the first time that Halsey was associated with Alev. The pair were first linked when they were photographed spending time together at a Los Angeles Lakers game in 2019, as seen below.

Halsey and Alev sat courtside as the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Plus, in a June 2022 Instagram post, the “Bad At Love” singer recalled that they met on set for the singer’s 2022 “So Good” music video. “Alev and i first met because he was supposed to write and direct a movie about my life. we started a family and now he’s written and directed this little film about OUR life. the pangs of longing for what could be…and what became,” they said in a sentimental caption as they promoted their new video.

Alev Was A Passionate Partner

Although they preferred to keep their relationship quiet, Halsey once gave insight into the love they and Alev once shared during an Aug. 2021 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “I love my partner, our relationship is so full of love and passion and communication,” the Grammy nominee raved.

Halsey also described their romance as the stars aligning in a 2021 interview with Allure. “Alev and I have been really good friends for four years. And when the stars aligned, our relationship became romantic and it was pretty evident that he and I were both like, ‘Oh, my gosh! You’re the person I’m supposed to start a family with,'” they recalled.

They also commented on why their relationship was hidden for so long. “Nobody knew I was dating someone. As if people were entitled to an update, like, ‘I’ve met someone, we’re going on dates, it’s getting serious, they’ve moved in, we’re planning a child, we are having a baby, we had a baby, this is the gender,” Halsey noted. “I signed up to give my whole life away; my loved ones didn’t.”

Alev And Halsey Have Matching Tattoos

Alev and Halsey took their blissful love to the tattoo shop in 2020, where they each got the word, “seeds”, on one of their feet. To make things cuter, they each have the word printed in each other’s handwriting, according to their tattoo artist, Amanda Lynn Overmire-Robb, of Liquid Tattoo in Yucca Valley, Calif.

The tattoo artist shared the above images of the lovers’ experience in June of 2022 and added some commentary in the caption. “Today I met the sweetest two people. Ashley and Alev. You may know her better as HALSEY @iamhalsey,” Amanda began. “‘Seeds’ is for planting seeds. She said this is cosmicly (SIC) the best week to plant seeds in your life. I agree.”

Alev Supports Black Lives Matter

In June 2020, during the summer busy with Black Lives Matter protests following George Floyd’s murder, Alev shared an email he received from The Bail Project to protest the police response to peaceful protests. “The law enforcement response to these peaceful protests has been horrifying. And the way these police departments are insulated by our politicians and our judges is a sick joke,” he slammed in the caption. “In NY alone, mere hours ago, a judge ruled that protestors arrested for curfew can be detained for over 24 hours, no processing, no appearance before a judge, all writs are denied in BK, BX, and Manhattan.”

“Black communities have paid a heavy biological tax bc of prevailing racist social structures and attitudes in the medical community that devalues them based on accepted (racist) assumptions that black people are more intrinsically genetically vulnerable than other racial groups,” he wrote four days later. “Centuries of systemic inequality and oppression are still explained away by falsely citing genetic ancestry. The link in my bio directs to a list that @blklivesmatter put together to help redistribute wealth to orgs that center black people.”
