Pink apologized to fans as she was forced to postpone shows in Vancouver, Canada and Tacoma, Washington on social media. The “So What” singer, 44, announced that she was battling a respiratory infection as she told fans that she’d be postponing the concerts. Pink was clearly very sorry to have to push the gigs, and she promised fans an “incredible show,” once she’s able to perform. Here are all the updates you need to know about the singer’s illness.
The “Just Give Me a Reason” popstar first revealed that she was dealing with “family medical issues,” in an Instagram post, announcing that she’d be postponing her concerts in Tacoma, Washington. She then later shared that she had been diagnosed with a respiratory infection, and her doctors had advised her not to perform.
In her first statement, she offered apologies and wished good health to her fans. “I am so sorry to inform the Tacoma ticket holders that the two shows October 17 and October 18 (tomorrow and Wednesday) will be postponed,” she wrote. “Family medical issues require our immediate attention. I send everyone my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this has caused. I am sending nothing but love and health to all.”
A respiratory tract infection is a blanket term for any disease infecting the upper or lower respiratory tract, per the National Library of Medicine. Pink didn’t detail what her specific symptoms were, but they can include the common cold, bronchitis, laryngitis, tonsilitis, pneumonia, and more. Naturally, those symptoms make singing much more difficult. Usually, doctors advise singers not to perform when dealing with some of these symptoms, per the BBC.
Pink first revealed that she was dealing with a medical issue on October 16, but she did perform her concert on October 15 in San Francisco. She revealed that she was dealing with a respiratory infection in an Instagram post on October 19.
It’s not clear how long Pink will be battling the respiratory infection. She is currently scheduled to perform on October 25 at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. In her statement, she was very apologetic to her fans and said that she hoped to have the shows rescheduled ASAP.
“I am deeply sorry to share that I have a respiratory infection and my doctor has advised that I am unable to perform at the Vancouver shows on Friday and Saturday,” she said. “I am very much looking forward to performing in Vancouver and putting on an incredible show for everyone. In the meantime, I wish everyone good health and am sending lots of love xoxo Pink.”
The rescheduled dates for the Tacoma and Vancouver shows have not yet been announced.
