Here’s everything you need to know about the Instagram star who first connected with the French-American rapper and content creator in 2015.
Lucas Coly, a rapper and social media star, has died, as confirmed by NBC News. He was 27 years old.
Coly’s manager, known on social media as “I Discover Stars,” announced the news on Thursday, October 3, stating that the artist behind “I Just Wanna” had passed away. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed. One day prior, fans noticed that Coly had shared a message on his Instagram Stories that read, “I love y’all” with a heart emoji against a black background.
In a separate Facebook post, which has either been made private or deleted, Coly’s manager mentioned Lucas’ girlfriend, Amber, encouraging fans to “pray” for her.
“I’m not okay. Pray for Amber, y’all,” he wrote. “And for those wondering how I know this is true… 1) I was his longtime manager, and 2) I was on the phone with him moments before. He loved all his fans. 2024 has been the worst year of my life. Lucas was more of a brother to me than just a client. Amber will confirm the news when she is ready. Please give her time to process and heal. When the funeral arrangements are made, I will post them here.”
Here’s a look at Lucas’ longtime partner and their relationship.
Amber was born in Oklahoma and raised in San Antonio, Texas, until she was about eight years old, after which she moved to California and then Nevada.
Amber typically uploads beauty and makeup videos on her YouTube channel, where Lucas makes regular appearances for vlogs and various other types of content. She has also begun creating music. While her full name is not publicly known, she simply goes by Amber H.
Lucas and Amber first interacted in 2015 after she “slid into the DMs” of the artist. Since Amber was residing in Nevada at the time and Lucas was in New York, their relationship was purely online.
Eventually, Lucas flew to Los Angeles, and the two planned to meet.
Amber previously mentioned that their anniversary is on November 25. In 2018, she noted that they had been together for three years, making their anniversary date November 25, 2015.
In a 2018 YouTube video, Amber shared that her favorite memory was meeting Lucas:
“I was nervous—like, I was super nervous. I think that’s one of my best memories with him because of the feeling of finally meeting someone you’ve been excited to meet and have been conversing with on the phone. You know he’s fine… girl, that was one of my best memories.”
Lucas and Amber both have their own personal YouTube channels, but they also share a joint account called “Lucas and Amber.”
It is unclear when the couple broke up or if they ever officially announced a split. They were last seen together on TikTok Live earlier this year.
The couple was apparently in an open relationship, and toward the end of last year, Amber began to vent to her followers about the turbulent nature of their relationship. Fans also noted that the couple, who had been together for nearly nine years, displayed increasing tension during their frequent livestreams whenever TikTok users brought up the topics of marriage and children. Amber often expressed her desire for those aspects in her future, while Lucas tended to avoid engaging in the conversation.
