Are you ready for “The Vampire Diaries: The College Years”? An all-new season of The CW’s hottest addiction begins Oct. 3, thrusting our characters into new and uncharted territory. By doing away with the Mikaelson family — don’t worry, there’ll always be The Originals — and by giving the cast a change of scene, I think EP Julie Plec injected the show with a much-needed kick; and in typical Vampire Diaries fashion, the premiere keeps on kicking from beginning to end.
Silas may be masquerading as Stefan (Paul Wesley) on the fifth season of The Vampire Diaries, but judging by the way Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has his hands around “Stefan’s” throat in this first-look picture from the Oct. 10 episode, I don’t think it’ll take long for him to figure out that something stinks in Mystic Falls.
The Vampire Diaries‘ holy trinity may be slightly disconnected in season five — Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) will struggle to keep their long-distance relationship alive, while Stefan (Paul Wesley) is still stuck at the bottom of a lake — but they’re coming together for a new batch of promo pics.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the new poster for the upcoming fifth season of The Vampire Diaries says more than words ever could. Even with the Mikaelson family ditching Mystic Falls for The Originals, there’s still plenty of eye candy on the newly released promo art — is Damon (Ian Somerhalder) having his own private wet t-shirt contest? — which has more excited for The CW drama’s Oct. 3 return than ever.
I’d like to begin by noting that this promo for The Vampire Diaries‘ fifth season actually came out Aug. 30, but it was a holiday weekend, so I wouldn’t blame you if you missed it. And even if you saw it, it’s full of so many mind-blowing surprises, it’s worth a re-visit. Let’s begin with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev), who have definitely been enjoying their summer together.
With Stefan chilling in a box at the bottom of a lake, Silas is going to be free to run amok when The Vampire Diaries returns for its fifth season Oct. 3, and it looks like Paul Wesley is already comfortable with his new dark persona. The CW posted this picture, a behind-the-scenes outtake from the show’s newest photo shoot, to its Facebook page Aug. 20 — and we’re more pumped for “Stilas” than ever!
