On its ninth day of deliberations in Greensboro, NC., jurors found John not guilty on one out of the six counts on May 31 — then the judge declared a mistrial!

John Edwards’ fate is decided — he’s a free man! The former senator was facing six felony charges stemming from the 2008 presidential race in which he was accused of using $1 million in campaign funds to hide his extramarital affair with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter. But now he’s off the hook, after the jury found him not guilty on Count 3 and the judge ruled the rest a mistrial.

An escort told investigators that John Edwards paid her for sex in 2007, while he was married to Elizabeth Edwards, but the former Senator “denies that he was involved with any prostitute or service.”

Former Senator John Edwards has been accused of hiring a call girl, employed by Madam Anna Gristina, while he was married and running for President. The escort told investigators that John paid her for sex during a 2007 visit to New York City to raise money for his failed White House bid, according to DNAinfo.

Elizabeth Edwards was laid to rest Dec. 11 and among the many emotional moments was daughter Cate‘s eulogy for her late mother. “There aren’t words that are good enough,” her daughter began before reading a letter her mother had given her. “I’ve loved you in the best ways I’ve known how,” the letter said. “All I ever really needed was you, your love, your presence, to make my life complete.”
