
Update (1/25/22 12:07 p.m. EST): Whoopi Goldberg cleared the air about the âhecklerâ situation during the show on January 18. She shared that the camera had panned over to the wrong audience member who called out. The comedian revealed that the person who was shown on TV wasnât the audience member who called out before signing off on Wednesday, January 25. âIâm clearing this womanâs good name, image and likeness right now. Sheâs a loyal audience member, an upstanding citizen and a View fan. We canât do this show without the support of viewers like her and viewers like you. So, please leave her alone,â she said.
Besides pointing out that the woman was not the person who called out, The View moderator also assured fans that she wasnât bothered by the comment and said that it was simply a fun moment for the hosts and audience members. âThis was a jokey, light moment. Relax everybody,â she said.
Original: The iconic actress and TV host Whoopi Goldberg, 67, did not hold back when an audience member called her an âold broadâ during the Jan. 18 episode of The View. âDid you just call me an old broad?â, the Sister Act star asked the audience member. Even her co-host Joy Behar, 80, was stunned. âDid she?â, Joy asked, to which Whoopi replied, âYeah! She said, âYo broad!'â After many laughs among her co-hosts and viewers, Whoopi declared, âI am an old broad and happy about it!â

After the episode aired, many of the showâs viewers took to the comments on Twitter to share their reactions. âsomeone had to do it,â one person penned, while another chimed in, âoh yeah,â along with a laughing emoji. Of course, one of Whoopiâs fans took to her defense and applauded her for her response. âBrava to Ms Goldberg!â, they wrote. Finally, a separate admirer quoted RHOBH star Lisa Rinna and added, âOwn it!â
The fan heckling Whoopi took place during the same episode where the topic of age was ironically a conversation with Modern Family alum Julie Bowen, 52. âYou basically became very famous at the age of 39,â Joy began. âWhich some people might say is late in life⊠I started at that age too.â In response, Julie agreed with the 80-year-old host that reaching success is often âbetterâ when one is older. âOh yeah! Especially if the success has to do with being in the public eye,â the blonde beauty began. âMaybe if I was a lawyer or something it mightâve been different.â The Emmy winner also noted that being bombarded by paparazzi came a bit easier being older.

Books 1-4 available now,â Whoopi wrote on Instagram in Oct. 2022.
