50 Cent took back his words on the Megan Thee Stallion/ Tory Lanez shooting for the second time. The superstar rapper/producer wanted to extend an apology to the “Savage” singer during his guest appearance on 92.3 The Real on Wednesday, January 11. He said it was long overdue after he doubted her side of the story and then realized he was wrong once the court presented evidence to find Tory guilty of assault for shooting Megan in the foot during the 2020 incident.

“I want to apologize to Megan Thee Stallion,” 50 Cent began on the radio program. “I had said some things, posted on social media.” He then referenced Megan’s April 2022 interview with Gayle King where she denied having an intimate relationship with Tory. Megan would later walk back those words in court and admit to having sex with Tory. “When she said to Gayle … when Gayle asked if she was intimate with Tory Lanez and she said ‘what? no.’ I was like ‘oh no, she lying,'” 50 Cent added.

“From that, it felt like she was lying, to me” he continued. “So little things would pop up on the internet and I wouldn’t be supportive of it.” He then made note of Tory’s jailhouse phone conversation — a key piece of evidence that came hours after the incident — where Tory appears to admit his guilt, per Rolling Stone. “The only reason I feel I should apologize is when I heard that phone conversation,” 50 Cent said, before adding, “I’m sure that’s what probably swayed people in the court too.”

The apology comes almost two years after the “Candy Shop” hitmaker already said he was sorry for mocking Megan over the shooting. When news initially broke in 2020 that she had been injured, 50 Cent shared some offensive memes about the incident. Once Megan began opening up about it, he changed his tune. “Damn I didn’t think this s*** was real,” 50 wrote on Instagram at the time. “It sounded so crazy. [Megan] I’m glad [you’re] feeling better and I hope you can accept my apology. I posted a meme that was floating around. I wouldn’t have done that if I knew you was really hurt. Sorry.”

In December, the court found Tory guilty of assault over the shooting. The rapper, whose real name is Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, will now await sentencing and could face up to 24 years in prison.
