Halle Berry, 54, is single and not ready to mingle with her friend’s exes. The Catwoman star made it very clear why she would never enter a relationship — or even go on a date — with her friends’ past significant others on the Dec. 16 episode of her Instagram series, Bad & Booshy. The subject came up after Halle and her co-host/stylist/best friend Lindsay Flores were asked, “Would you ever date your friend’s ex-boyfriend or ex-husband?”
“You almost did,” Lindsay teased Halle, to the actress’s shock. The best friends made it clear that they were referring to the time Halle played a prank on Lindsay, and pretended her stylist’s “ex ex love” had “tried to hit” on Halle at a farmer’s market. But when it comes to real-life scenarios, Halle stressed that she would “never” actually date a friend’s ex and that it’s “a cardinal sin” to do so.
“Like you don’t date your bestie’s exes,” Halle continued. “If I know you, I’m not dating your past, nothing. ‘Cause that’s just not cool. That’s just how I feel.” And then, the Grammy-winning actress made an excellent point: “My soulmate is not in the form of anybody I know’s exes.” Lindsay was on the same page.
The co-hosts were then asked, “But…what if they only went out with them twice?” Halle’s opinion didn’t change. “If my friend’s only been out with him twice, he’s not on my list. That’s how I feel. I’m that kind of girl. There’s too many of them in the world for me to choose from,” she quipped. You can watch the full segment above!
Halle doesn’t need to look at her friends’ dating pools to find a lover, anyway. She has been in a sweet relationship with musician Van Hunt, 50, for a little more than half a year now, and even repped one of his tee-shirts while happily revealing that she “was Saturday Swingin’ with my man” on Dec. 12 (as you can see below).
“She’s very happy with [Van],” a source close to Halle EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife in November. At the time, Halle was shooting her new movie Moonfall in Canada, and our insider added, “She wasn’t looking for anything when they got together so it really took her by surprise, but in the best way. She seems to be very serious about him, they’re pretty inseparable. She’s working on a movie in Montreal right now and he’s there with her.”
