Nene Leakes rang in her 53rd birthday surrounded by her inner circle. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star shared the latter in a new post on Instagram, which included her birthday ensemble — a blue lace bra top and silk mini skirt. In the sultry snap, Nene’s pictured lounging on a couch, while exuding “Sagittarius energy.”
“It has DEFINITELY been a different type of year but I am BLESSED, THRIVING AND SURVIVING! It took a longggggggg time for me to learn my circle but I finally got it,” Nene admitted in the caption of her post, seemingly referencing her tumultuous and untimely departure from The Real Housewives of Atlanta after helping launch the show in 2008. “I choose this birthday to celebrate those who was ALWAYS celebrating me!,” she continued. “I love you all. Stay blessed and prayed up! Happy BIRTHDAY to me! Sagittarius Energy all day babyyyyy.”
Nene rang in her 53rd birthday with a group of friends, including Tamar Braxton, and a “Vegas-style brunch.” She documented the celebrations in a series of Instagram Story videos — many of which included lavish food plates, flowers, balloons and plenty of cocktails.
“I got some presents and some friends, we about to party, we won’t stop,” Nene sang alongside Tamar, adding, “It’s my birthday!” The Grammy-nominated singer also took to Instagram to share a lengthy tribute to Nene, who she called “my day one!”
Alongside a clip of the pair from Nene’s birthday festivities, Tamar wrote, “Ion wanna see NOTHING else but #happybirthday to this lady @neneleakes who’s had my back, side, and forward. Y’all don’t know how many times this lady has called me to get out of bed, to keep going, to grow my OWN business, the FIRST one to call David this summer when my whole world came tumbling down,” Tamar recalled in reference to her admitted suicide attempt and subsequent hospitalization in July.
“Then after we broke up, STILL the first one who knew how much pain I was in and was there every single day to check in with me to make sure I was ok,” Tamar continued about Nene’s support through her breakup with ex David Adefeso. “I wasn’t, but what I’m saying is love on the people who love on you.. it’s your bday sis and I appreciate and Love you and today we celebrate you we going all the way up,” she wrote.
