Season 8 of Don’t Be Tardy has documented the Biermann-Zolciak family’s cross-country road trip, and in the Dec. 15 episode, they’ll reach their last pit stop: Los Angeles. Of course, the family immediately hits the beach in Malibu — leading one of Kim Zolciak‘s eldest sons to provide witty commentary about his glam mom, as seen in HollywoodLife‘s EXCLUSIVE sneak peek of the episode airing on Dec. 15.

“My mom does not go in the water because it’s not clear enough. She’s afraid of sharks, and her weave’s going to fall off,” Kim’s son cheekily says in a confessional clip with his dad and Kim’s husband, Kroy Biermann. The 35-year-old NFL retiree is taken aback by his son’s comment about Kim’s weave. “What! That is not true…no, it is secure,” Kroy assures in the preview. Kim certainly knows what she’s doing when it comes to hair; one of her most iconic moments on TV was her closet wig tour on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

While Kim’s hair stays in tact throughout the preview, her son does seem right about his mom’s anxieties towards the ocean. She screams at her youngest kids Kroy Jr., 9, Kash, 8, and twins Kaia and Kane, 7, to “get up right now” after the four siblings go tumbling in a wave. Meanwhile, the eldest of the bunch — Kim, Kroy, and Kim’s daughters Brielle Biermann, 23, and Ariana Biermann, 19 — instead stay safe on the sandy shore. They do share a sweet family hug, though, and Brielle admits with some embarrassment, “Thank you guys for this very memorable trip that I will never forget.” You can watch the rest of the preview above!

The road trip was filmed before the pandemic, in the summer of 2019 (so don’t be alarmed by the lack of masks). The trip brought the family of eight all around the country in their packed van, from Tennessee  to Ohio. Amid the trip, Kim even entertained the idea of moving her family to Arizona, which was debated on the Nov. 24 episode of Don’t Be Tardy.
