Fans of Kim Kardashian finally got to see never-before-seen footage from her birthday getaway to a private island surrounded by friends and family. Of the clips that her Instagram followers got to see in her November 12 “Birthday Vlog” compilation was her real-time reaction to seeing her late father, Robert Kardashian, deliver a loving birthday message in the form of a hologram. In the footage, a videographer captured parts of the hologram sharing such sweet words, gifted to Kim by her husband, Kanye West.
“Look at you. You’re forty and all grown up,” the message said. “Know that I am very proud of you, and I’m always with you.” As the lights came on, the room was completely silent. A caption on the video noted that Kim was on the phone with her husband. “Thank you for that,” Kim could be heard saying through tears. “Seriously, thank you.” Another person in the room asked if they could see the message again, to which an attendant said, “Yes, as many times [as you’d like].”
The footage of Kim and her family’s reaction to the hologram comes two weeks after Kim posted footage of the hologram’s message. “Hologram from Heaven,” she began the caption to her post. “For my birthday, Kanye got me the most thoughtful gift of a lifetime. A special surprise from heaven. A hologram of my dad,” she emotionally wrote, so touched by what her beloved husband had done for her.
“It is so lifelike and we watched it over and over, filled with lots [of] tears and emotion. I can’t even describe what this meant to me and my sisters, my brother, my mom and closest friends to experience together,” she continued in her caption. Finally, she thanked her husband of six years for the gift. “Thank you so much Kanye for this memory that will last a lifetime.”
Kim celebrated her 40th birthday surrounded by family and friends on a secluded island. Everyone was required to quarantine and receive COVID-19 tests in order to ensure their safety, as well as the health of employees who were working at the destination. Kim’s father, Robert, passed away when Kim was just 22 years old. The gesture from her husband clearly meant the world to her, and it’s amazing for fans to finally see her reaction in real time.
