Usher, 42, is a dad again! The Confessions singer shared the very first photo of his new baby girl Sovereign Bo with girlfriend Jenn Goicoechea on the Wednesday, Nov. 11 episode of The Ellen Degeneres Show. In the gorgeous photo, Usher can be seen cradling little Sovereign in his arms as he leans down to kiss her forehead. The baby looked so cute bundled up in a lavender colored blanket with an adorable flower headband!
“Look at that! She looks like a little porcelain doll. She doesn’t even look real,” host Ellen DeGeneres gushed about the sweet photo. “You believe that until you have to change her diaper!” Usher hilariously joked about the baby, who was born on Sept. 23. “She came out early. She was scheduled to be a Scorpio but decided she had a different plan. Libras, you know, they kinda have their minds made up what they wanna do,” he explained of the early arrival.
It seems like Sovereign — who joins big brothers Usher Raymond, 12, and Naviyd, 11, from Usher’s ex Tameka Foster — is determined just like her dad. “It’s funny because the umbilical cord was wrapped around her wrists. So she’s pulling the thing, like, ‘Pull me outta here, it’s time to go!'” Usher added, shouting out his boys for being “protective” of their new baby sister. “They’re coping well. They’re very, very excited about being big brothers…they’re a little bit too protective of her sometimes, even with me!”
While Usher may be a global superstar, he did joke he’s starting to be “less cool” to his boys. “As they get older, I’m less cool of a dad,” he hilariously revealed, sharing that he’s also looking forward to this next chapter of parenthood with Sovereign. “I’m starting this whole cycle over now and I’m kind of the apple of her eye right now…time flies, man,” he said.
Usher took to Instagram on Sept. 30 to announce the arrival of baby Sovereign, sharing a sweet photo of the little girl wrapping her hand around his finger. “We are feeling blessed and full of love with the arrival of our beautiful baby girl, Sovereign Bo Raymond,” he shared. “‘Isn’t She lovely’ by Stevie Wonder on repeat,” the proud dad added, along with three heart emojis. Congratulations again to Usher and Jenn!
