UPDATE: 9/16/20, 2:27 p.m. ET — HollywoodLife has obtained Cardi B’s amended divorce petition, which states the rapper is no longer seeking primary physical and legal custody of the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus. Instead, Cardi “requests that this Court honor and enforce any custodial arrangement agreed to by the parties and that such arrangement should be whatever is in the child’s best interests.” Additionally, the legal documents state that Cardi “reiterates her desire for an amicable resolution of this case.” Offset has not yet responded to Cardi’s divorce filing.

ORIGINAL: Cardi B filed for divorce from her husband of nearly three years, Migos rapper, Offset on Tuesday. HollywoodLife obtained the official court documents, which were filed by Cardi in Georgia, where the couple has a home together. HollywoodLife has reached out to representatives for both Cardi B (née, Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar) and Offset (née, Kiari Kendrell Cephus).

The Grammy-winner, 27, filed the divorce papers to indicate that she’s seeking a dissolution of marriage, and the filing shows that it’s a contested divorce. Cardi is listed as the plaintiff in the docs, and Offset, 28, is listed as the defendant. The divorce papers reveal that Cardi and Offset are currently separated, and she says, “there are no prospects for a reconciliation.”

The legal papers go on to state that Cardi is seeking primary physical custody, as well as legal custody of the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus (born on July 10, 2018). Additionally, Cardi wants Offset to pay child support, though it’s unclear how much. They recently celebrated their daughter’s second birthday with a lavish party in LA back in July. Along with Kulture, Offset also has three children from previous relationships.

As for spousal support? — That’s unclear at this time. It’s also unclear if they have a prenup, however, Cardi is asking for “an equitable division of all marital assets.” She also wants Offset to be ordered to pay her legal expenses, as stated in the court documents. Neither Cardi nor Offset has addressed the divorce news.

It’s unclear what went wrong between the rappers, as there was no sign of trouble in paradise leading up to the split. In fact, Offset made an appearance in a newly released behind-the-scenes clip from the making of Cardi’s “WAP” music video on September 10.

Cardi and Offset secretly tied the knot at home in Georgia on September 20, 2017. HollywoodLife obtained the couple’s marriage license at the time. They said “I do” about one month before Offset publicly proposed to Cardi during one of her concerts the next month in October.

Fans of the rappers may recall Cardi’s previous accusations of Offset’s infidelity in December of 2018, which led to their brief split. Her breakup track, titled “Be Careful” — off of her Grammy-winning album, Invasion of Privacy — was inspired by her relationship highs and lows with Offset. They later reconciled in early 2019, following Offset’s public apology tour. Cardi spoke about Offset’s cheating scandal in a number of interviews, in which she explained why she took him back.

“When me and my husband got into our issues — you know, he cheated and everything — and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” Cardi explained in a cover interview with Vogue in December of 2019. “But it’s real-life sh-t. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation,” she continued. “Then, if you get back with them, it’s like, how could you? You let all of us down.”
