Ponytails were definitely trending at the 2019 Grammys! We’ve got the how to breakdowns of both Camila and Jennifer’s looks — plus, see photos of their amazing styles below.
There were a ton of amazing beauty looks at the 2019 Grammys, which were held live on Feb. 10 from Los Angeles. Low ponytails were trending thanks to stars like Camila Cabello and Jennifer Lopez. Stylist Dimitris Giannetos told us how he created Camila’s style: “Camila wore a beautiful Armani custom design. Because the dress had a turtleneck, I wanted her hair to be sleek and in a low ponytail.” And he did it with drugstore products!
He first prepped the hair with the L’Oréal Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 Rapid Reviver Deep Conditioner. Next, he spritzed L’Oréal Paris Boost It High Lift Creation Spray into damp hair, and then racked through some L’Oreal Paris Blow Dry It Thermal Smoother Cream. He dried her naturally wavy hair with the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer, using the diffuser to tame frizz. Next, he sprayed a hairbrush with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Strong Hold and brushed her hair into a low ponytail. He left out her bangs to frame her face. He then took a piece of hair and wrapped it around the ponytail elastic. For an extra boost of shine, he used a little L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Treatment on the ponytail.
Hairstylist Chris Appleton did Jennifer’s perfect ponytail and explained: “First I prepped the hair with Color Wow Dream Coat and dried straight with the ghd air hair dryer. Then I took sections of her hair and curled with the ghd curve soft curl iron. Once the hair cooled, I used the ghd air hair dryer and the ghd natural bristle radial brush size 4 to smooth the hair and create a luxurious wave. I then tied her hair into a ponytail and wrapped a piece of hair around the band. To finish the look, I spritzed hair spray to stick down any flyaways and make the hair appear healthy and glossy. We placed the hat on and the look was complete!”
Ponytails are super versatile and classic styles that can be dressed up or down! Do you love seeing a ponytail on a red carpet?
