Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called a press conference and bashed rumors that he’s resigning from his position. As for those rumors that he called Trump a ‘f**king moron’? Well, he’s not going to talk about that.
Washington, DC was puzzled when Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called an unscheduled press conference on October 4, convinced that he would be announcing his resignation. Instead, it was all about getting ahead of that rumor. Tillerson stated firmly that he’s not resigning from his secretary of state position, he never wanted to, and he never will! “My commitment to President Trump is strong. The vice president has never had to persuade me to remain secretary of state because I have never wanted to leave this post. Quitting is never a consideration in my mind.” Though the former Exxon CEO basically called a press conference to tell people not to believe rumors, he refused to discuss an even more damning rumor: that he called President Trump a “f**king moron.” What??
‘Tillerson reportedly referred to the president as a “moron” openly, in front of other cabinet members, after a July 20 meeting at the Pentagon, according to three anonymous senior White House officials who spoke to NBC News. Tensions apparently came to a head between Tillerson and Trump after the president delivered an extremely polarizing speech to the Boy Scouts of America, in which he had the thousands of children boo former president Barack Obama, and gave away MAGA hats. Tillerson once led the Boy Scouts of America organization. When asked by reporters if he had insulted the president in earshot of other officials, Tillerson didn’t deny it! He simply said that he wasn’t going to get into that “petty stuff.”
President Trump apparently watched the press conference without sound, because he immediately jumped on Twitter to denounce the “fake news” NBC story. He apparently doesn’t know that Tillerson didn’t exactly refute the entire report. Wait until he finds that out! Countdown until Tillerson changes his mind and ultimately “resigns” starting…now.
