The 2017 WNBA Finals continue with many predicting Game 3 to be a ‘intense’ matchup between Minnesota and LA! The women will tip off their next game in the series on Sept. 29 and we have your ultimate watch guide!
We’re getting closer to the WNBA Finals championship game! The Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks will hit the Staples Center court in LA for a highly anticipated Game 3 matchup on Friday, Sept. 29 at 9 PM ET; the game will be broadcast on ESPN2. But, which team will take home the W in Game 3 after an exciting start to the championship? The tensions are high in this iconic rematch. Not to mention, Lynx guard, Maya Moore, said her self, “it’s intense,” heading into Game 3. “It’s two heavyweights going at it, trying to inch out an advantage at every moment,” she told Swish Appeal. “There’s no question you’re seeing really talented players play.”
So far, LA, the defending champs, and Minnesota, who are on their sixth Finals trip in seven years, have both been keeping us on our toes. The Sparks took the win in a close Game 1, 85-84. Then, the Lynx came back in Game 2 for a 70-68 win. But, it’s anyone’s game now. In the opener, the Sparks gave the Lynx a run for their money, shooting 60 percent from the field in the first quarter alone. The Lynx shot 26.7 percent.
However, the tables turned in Game 2 when the Lynx — who had home court advantage — came back hungry for redemption; shooting 63.2 from the field in the first quarter. And, that time, the Sparks only put up 22.2 percent.
So, what’s on the line? — Well, the championship, obviously. But, the Sparks have the chance to make history. If they win back-to-back titles, they will be first team to earn the accolade since they did it in 2001 and 2002. However, the Lynx — having been to the Finals for six times in the last seven years — want this ring more than ever after all these years. And, let’s be serious, this year’s Finals delivered us the ultimate rematch with the two teams with the best regular-season record going toe-to-toe. It can’t get any better than this!
Game 3 of the best-of-five series takes place on Friday, Sept. 29, in LA. Tip off is at 9 PM ET, and you won’t want to miss a second of it!
