The fanny pack is here to stay, and Kourtney Kardashian copied her little sis Kendall Jenner when she embraced the trend. Don’t know what to wear it with? Well, you’re in luck! We’re breaking down how to master the 80s belt bag, just in time for the weekend.
The Kardashian/Jenner gals are constantly looking towards one another as a source of style inspiration, and that totally proved to be the case as Kourtney Kardashian, 38, stepped out for a mother/daughter day in LA on June 1, where she rocked a Chanel fanny pack! Now the 80s trend is making a major comeback, and no one has been championing for it harder than Kendall Jenner, 21,
who showed off her take on the style two days in a row — and it seemed to inspire her big sis!
Since the fanny pack doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, we have some fool-proof tips for making the trend look chic and not soccer mom-ish. If you’re unsure how to make it work for you, keep it simple and pair your belt bag with casual separates, like a high-waisted pair of jeans a la Kourt. The silhouette looks best with jeans or shorts, and you can even rock it with a denim skirt. Although the silhouette exudes a more casual vibe, you can still sport it with a casual frock, like a shirt-dress. Steer clear of wearing your fanny pack with cocktail attire and we wouldn’t recommend pairing it with a flowing, boho dress — the styles may clash.
If you’re hesitant about embracing the style, keep it simple and let your accessory do all the talking. The trend is ideal for sightseeing, shopping, concerts, and any other summer activity where you would prefer to keep your hands free.
If you aren’t comfortable with belting it around your waist, you can wear it as a crossbody bag, just like Kendall did when she rocked the style during Paris Fashion Week. Although Kendall has been all about the resurgence, Kourt actually rocked the belt bag trend a few years ago — but the OG fanny pack queen was actually their mom, Kris Jenner!
It’s safe to say their affinity for fanny packs runs in the family, but what do you think of the style? Will you try the trend?
