This is unbelievable. LeBron James was possibly the target of a hate crime on May 31, as someone allegedly spray-painted the n-word on his house in Los Angeles! Authorities are currently investigating who could have pulled off this gross, hateful vandalism.
LeBron James, 32, is getting ready to take on the Golden State Warriors in the 2017 NBA Finals, so the last thing he needs is to worry about racists attacking his property. The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar and NBA champion became another victim of hate when someone reportedly spray-painted the n-word on the front gate of a home he owns in Los Angeles, according to TMZ Sports. The disgusting incident happened sometime on May 31, after multiple LAPD unites and a neighborhood patrol vehicle arrived at the home to find the vandalism.
“Around 6:44am today, May 31st, West LA officers received a vandalism call at a residence,” the LAPD tells HollywoodLife.com. “A racial slur was painted on a private gate and when officers arrived the slur was already painted over by the property manager. The incident is being investigated and the officers have confirmed it is LeBron James’ home that was vandalized.” Detectives are looking into this as a possible hate crime, authorities tell TMZ Sports. They’re also searching for possible security footage from neighbors. Hopefully, these cameras captured the perpetrator behind this crime.
Not much else is known at this time, so fingers crossed that the authorities discover whoever did this. Thankfully, the graffiti has since been covered up but the stain of this crime will not be so easily forgotten. LeBron wasn’t at the home at the time of the incident, sources tell TMZ Sports. With Game 1 of the NBA Finals taking place at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, it’s quite possible that King James was busy in the Bay Area. LeBron bought the house back in 2015, according to TMZ Sports, but he doesn’t really live there on a regular basis. Cleveland’s favorite son seems to enjoy staying in C-Town.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time LeBron has dealt with racism. He was asked about the subject in May 2017, after Adam Jones, 31, of the Baltimore Orioels was reportedly heckled with racist comments while playing in Boston. “Racism, we know, exists. You try not to put yourself in a position, for me as a father, I try to give my kids the blueprint on how life is gonna be,” he said, according to For The Win. “But at the end of the day, I can only tell them so much, and they have to live it themselves. For me, I just try to be respectful, for one, respectful to others, and I feel like if you do that consistently, then I believe the karma will come back to you.”
