Rising country star Brooke Eden debuted the first music video of her career for her hit ‘Act Like You Don’t,’ and now HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE behind-the-scenes look at the emotional video that is already making waves in the CMT Hot 20 Countdown!
Brooke Eden, 28, has worn her heart on her sleeve since moving to Nashville just after graduating from University of Florida. With only a mattress in her apartment and no plan, Brooke and her dad put on their boots and went to listen to some up and coming artists sing in the Honky Tonks on Broadway after a long day of moving. Somehow, Brooke ended up on stage and the rest was history. Now, she’s found herself back in a beat up dive bar, but this time, she’s filming her debut music video for her heartbreaking hit “Act Like You Don’t.” In a behind the scenes look at her top-charting song, Brooke takes us through the painful story that she turned into a piece of art. Watch the EXCLUSIVE video below!
“Act Like You Don’t” takes listeners through Brooke’s raw emotional journey following a break-up, and she wanted to depict those subtle moments you find yourself thinking about what went wrong. “I wanted this to be a true depiction of what I did during that breakup. I would call my friends and my friends would be like, ‘All right, we’re going out. We’re going to go have a good time.’ In the midst of going out and having a good time, you do have those moments of like, “Oh, crap, my whole life is changing right now,” Brooke told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. Many of the producers who pitched their ideas for the video visualized Brooke in a dark house going through old pictures or wallowing in her loneliness, while award-winning producer Shane Drake had a different treatment that immediately resonated with Brooke.
“When I go through hard times, I want to do anything except be alone. I kind of do the whole opposite of that, where I just like want to surround myself with people who I love and people who love me, and kind of just drown out those kinds of thoughts and feelings and emotions,” Brooke explained. “You do have those kind of like introspective moments, and I think that it was cool the way that Shane did those introspective moments in the bathroom, kind of like the only place that you have privacy when you’re at a bar like that.”
Make sure you catch the incredibly relatable and undeniably human message in Brooke’s hit “Act Like You Don’t.” You can watch the full video here AND download the song on iTunes or Spotify!
