Now that ‘The Voice’ is over, Chris is ready to begin his journey towards a career in music! The season 12 winner spoke with reporters after his May 23 victory, and revealed just what we can expect from the album he’ll eventually release.
Alicia Keys got to experience her first The Voice victory when Chris Blue was named the winner of season 12 on May 23! So, what’s next for the talented artist she mentored? Well, first he’ll have to do the post-show press required by the show, but it seems like Chris is already itching to get to work on his music. “[My album will be] stuff that makes you feel good and enjoy life,” he told HollywoodLife.com and other outlets after the finale. “That is what coach has been preaching to me this whole season. She said that she hopes I produce something I feel because if I do’t feel it, no one else will. It’s very important when an artist knows what they want.”
Chris beat out Lauren Duski, Aliyah Moulden and Jesse Larson to win the show, and it was quite a journey for him all season long. The 27-year-old was actually the last person to get picked for a team — Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani’s teams were all filled up, and Alicia was waiting for the right moment to push her button. Clearly, it was worth the wait. Actually, Chris almost didn’t even audition for the show at all, so the fact that he won is even that much sweeter. “I don’t think I could see or open my eyes [I was crying so hard],” Chris dished on finding out he was the winner. “I just saw darkness and water, then my eyes started to burn. Wow!”
As much as this victory was for himself, Chris has said that he was really up on that stage for his fiancee, Stephanie, who has suffered from bone marrow cancer for most of her life. The two have been in a long distance relationship since 2011, and finally have plans to marry this July. They’ll certainly have a lot to celebrate this summer!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Chris deserved to win The Voice? Will you get his album?
