‘Dancing With The Stars’ may be over for the season, but Julianne Hough will forever be our body inspo! Find out how she keeps her flat stomach despite eating carbs at every single meal! Plus, her workout motivation tips!
Julianne Hough is a professional dancer, so she knows how to properly fuel her body and make the most of her workouts. She just told Us Weekly how she stays motivated when she isn’t feeling the gym and how she stays so fit while on the Move Live Tour. “When I think, ‘Ugh, how am I going to get out of bed and work out today,’ knowing I’ve got this cute little outfit to put on, I feel a little more excited and it makes for a better workout.” She’s, of course, talking about her collaboration with MPG Sport! “I’ve been wanting to do this for six years. Athleisure is the next big thing, but for me this has been a part of my whole life. Dancing and working out, it wasn’t always cool to stay in your same clothes and go to meetings, but now it’s the trend.”
Julianne is super busy on a live dancing tour right now, so she says she stays fit with “Corepower Yoga. It’s all over the country, so sometimes before a show, we’ll get a bunch of people together and do a class. Or if we have an outdoor show, we’ll go onto the lawn and do a group workout. It’s all about maintaining your body. I need to be strong so I can get through a show.” Julianne also spilled on her favorite food and it’s — surprise — CARBS! Hallelujah! “Carbs — I have them at every single meal,” Julianne says. “I think when you deprive yourself, that’s when you crave pasta and pizza. An ideal meal would be chicken, veggies, and sweet potatoes. Everything is so afraid of carbs — they talk about them in a negative way, like ‘Carbs make me fat or bloated’ — but just pick the right one and have a little bit. I need carbs because they make my brain click on and then everything else is able to function. I thought they were my enemy, but they’re actually my best friend.”
We love hearing this. I’ve been listening to the Just One More podcast with Joanna and Daphnie. Daphnie Yang is an International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Counselor. In their episode “#3 Carbs!” she explains that your body NEEDS carbs to survive. “Good carbs” include beans, fruits, vegetables, sweet potatoes, and whole wheat bread. Low carb or no carb diets sometimes work simply because you are eating LESS food, or incorporating more vegetables, like having a salad versus french fries.
