What a touching tribute in the wake of senseless tragedy. Usher and ‘The Voice’ finalist Chris Blue hit the stage on the season 12 finale and sang a beautiful rendition of R.E.M.’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ in honor of the victims of the Manchester terrorist attack.
Usher, 38, and Team Alicia’s Chris Blue decided to use their incredible performance of R.E.M.’s iconic song “Everybody Hurts” to help lift people up all around the world who may be struggling in the aftermath of the devastating Manchester terrorist attack. The finale comes just 24 hours after 22 innocent concertgoers were killed and 64 more were injured after a bombing at an Ariana Grande, 23, concert on May 22. Chris and Usher combined their incredible vocals for one magical and heart-warming musical moment. With this performance, Chris proves that he’s got serious staying power in the world of music. Thank you, Usher and Chris, for this performance.
Ariana has a special connection to The Voice. She performed a stellar rendition of “Dangerous Woman” with former judge Christina Aguilera, 36, on the season 10 finale of The Voice back in 2016. The singer is beyond devastated after the senseless terrorist attack. She tweeted that she is “broken” and “so, so sorry” for what happened. The Voice judges and contestants are sending their love Ari’s way in a very touching way — through music.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Usher on The Voice. The last time Usher performed on The Voice was back in 2015! He was a judge on the show for seasons 4 and 6. CeeLo Green, 42, who judged the first 3 seasons and season 5, also returned to perform Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star” with finalist Jesse Larson during the show. The show is pretty set judges wise for the next couple of seasons, but we’d love to see these two top artists return to those famous chairs as judges!
