Sinead O’Connor has apologized for ‘viciously’ attacking her family on social media last year. The troubled Irish singer asked her siblings and father to accept her, and told her fans that they were actually pretty great. What about her kids?
“Last year I did something (many things in many years actually) unforgivable because I was out of my mind. I insulted very viciously, people I love,” Sinead O’Connor, 50, wrote on Facebook. “My family specifically. And so its my own fault I’m in exile and suffering. I want to apologise here for the fact I did such an awful thing.
“I am nothing but remorseful and it is, as I said, unforgivable. I want to tell you some nice things about my family,” she wrote. “Because actually they’re really cool. And its me who’s been the total A-Hole. And it really hurt my family, what I did with Facebook. So I wanna rectify what can be rectified….Anyway I wrote this to apologise for making everyone think my family are c–ts. Theyr’e not. I am. Or at least I was at that time.”
She went on to tell stories about each of her siblings, and her father, telling fans what she loved about each relative. It’s a sweet, heartfelt post that they’ll hopefully read — though they may be staying away from Sinead’s Facebook after the terrifying rant she posted that sparked the apology. While in the throws of a mental breakdown, Sinead wrote several, in her words, vicious posts that targeted her family, the one about her siblings being a dispute about a house Sinead used to own.
Her most atrocious posts were aimed at two of her children, Rosin Waters, 21, and Jake Reynolds, 29, and her ex-husband, John Reynolds, for allegedly abandoning her while she was suicidal. Her words were incredibly crude, blaming her children for when she would commit suicide, and calling them names. There was only one minuscule mention of the kids in her post, and no happy stories: “It has been very difficult for them, being related to ‘ Sinead O’Connor’ what with my antics and madness…. and for that I apologise. And to my children I also apologise for that” she wrote.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Sinead’s family will accept her apology?
