The new ‘Dance Moms’ coach is here, but she’s doing things much differently than the original, Abby Lee Miller. Find out what Cheryl Burke had to say about the former coach’s teaching technique and how she’s getting along with the gossipy moms on the show.
Cheryl Burke, 33, is ready to take on Dance Moms in place of the infamous Abby Lee Miller, 50, who was forced to exit the reality series in March 2017 due to her legal troubles. Now that she’s headed to prison for bankruptcy fraud, Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl was invited to help finish out the seventh season. In a new interview, the show’s new dance coach totally dissed Abby’s teaching techniques and explained why she’s taking a much different approach to her students. Plus, Cheryl also revealed that while she won’t be as harsh on the girls as Abby was, there is still plenty of drama to be had between her and the moms on the show!
“It’s going great. The girls are so precious and I feel like they’re traumatized from what has happened with Abby and it’s important for me to still be strict and do what I do and I expect nothing but the best from the girls but it’s also important for me to make them feel confident about themselves because they’re all beautiful, they’re all talented,” Cheryl shared with Fox News. “They all want to move on and do other things and it’s important that they all have the right head on their shoulders and they don’t ever walk in a room with their head down, feeling like they aren’t good enough.” Cheryl added that she doesn’t “agree” with Abby’s “teaching methods“.
As for her drama with the moms on the show? Cheryl said, “My mom was a crazy dance mom herself and the hardest part is to separate yourself. It was important for me if they want to be there, outside, on the couch talking and gossiping, then that’s fine but they can’t just barge into my room. They have to ask for permission.” Eek!
