Following Jennifer Morrison’s unexpected goodbye to ‘Once Upon a Time,’ the creators of the show have revealed five other stars are also leaving following this week’s finale.
Rebecca Mader, AKA Zelena, was the first to reveal she was exiting the show. “This wasn’t my choice but a creative decision of the shows that I totally respect and understand,” she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post just hours after the network announced the show was renewed for a season seven. Creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis have now confirmed that Rebecca and Jennifer Morrison were only two of six departures, coming before season 7 — which they’re calling a “reset.
Season 7 will focus on Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle, Colin O’Donoghue, Andrew J. West, and Alison Fernandez. Cast members Ginny Goodwin, Josh Dallas and Jared Gilmore, and Emilie de Ravin will not be returning as series regulars. “Words can’t do justice to what Ginny, Josh, Emilie, Rebecca and Jared brought to Once Upon a Time… but we’ll try,” the show’s creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis said in a statement.
“Never have we had the privilege of working with a more talented group of collaborators. Each brought unique talent, incredible intelligence, and their own individual bit of magic as they gave life to these iconic characters. We can’t thank them enough for the hard work, dedication and passion they delivered day in and day out. Without them there would be no Once Upon a Time,” they continued. “As Once continues, this group will always be the beating heart of the show. And even though we won’t be with them every week, in a show about magic and hope, we fervently believe it won’t be the last we see of them. “
