Talk about committing a personal foul. Robby Anderson, a wide receiver for the New York Jets, was arrested at the Rolling Loud music festival on May 7. He must have thought he was still on the gridiron, as he got locked up for allegedly getting physical with a police officer!
Robby Anderson, 23, was attending the Rolling Loud music festival on Miami on May 7, but the party ended on a sour note for the New York Jets star. Robby, for some unknown reason at this time, was asked to leave the event, according to the police report obtained by TMZ. Robby refused to go, causing a Miami PD lieutenant got involved.
The cop reportedly told Robby to “sit down on the ground.” Yeah, that didn’t happen. “[Robby] tenses his body and pushed [the officer,]” TMZ reports. “[Robby] was redirected to the ground and continued to fight with police and security. The Jets player was reportedly arrested for felony resisting arrest with violence and misdemeanor obstruction of the police officer.
Robby was reportedly backstage when this alleged incident went down, according to New York Daily News, probably getting a better look at Migos, Future or 21 Savage perform. As for his team, the Jets were well “aware of the situation,” they said in a statement following the report of his arrest. “This is a pending legal matter and we will have no further comment at this time.” This is the last thing the Jets needed before the new season starts, as Gang Green is also dealing with three other troublesome players.
Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, 24, was suspended two games at the start of the 2017-18 season for a DUI arrest. Plus, both Nick Marshall, 24, and Jalin Marshall, 21, will be absent for the first month, as the cornerback and wide receivers were each slapped with a 4-game suspension for PED violations.
It’s possible that Robby will join Austin, Nick and Jalin on the bench for the start of what would be his sophomore season. Unless the NFL is feeling very forgiving, he’ll start his second year in the NFL on the wrong foot. That’s really disappointing, since he has the potential to be a huge star. As an undrafted rookie that joined the Jets in 2016, he had 42 catches for 587 yards. That’s not bad!
New York was reportedly hoping this year would be a breakout one for the Florida native, but this issue may derail that. Bummer. To make matters worse, Robby turns 24 on May 11. It’s possible that for his birthday, the NFL might gift-wrap him a nice, brand new suspension.
What do you think should happen to Robby, HollywoodLifers? Should the NFL suspend him or should they wait until this whole legal situation is over?
