So this is how ‘Game of Thrones’ spoilers don’t get out. Star Nathalie Emmanuel reveals the shocking and intense ways the showrunners have the cast get their hands on the season 7 scripts so details don’t get leaked. The ‘GoT’ bosses do NOT mess around!
“They’ve definitely tightened up who has scripts and how we’re given them,” star Nathalie Emmanuel, 28, who plays Missandei, told Fabulous magazine. “You have to look at it digitally… They won’t send it to us unless our emails have a two-step verification [security process]. You might get given rehearsal notes on set, but you have to sign for and return them before you leave. If you don’t, people will chase you until you give them back!”
The show has been facing piracy problems for years. Just before season 5 of Game of Thrones premiered, the first four episodes of the season leaked after someone posted press screeners online. Game of Thrones season 7 spoilers have allegedly leaked onto Reddit, but they could just be really in-depth fan predictions.
We don’t blame the Game of Thrones showrunners, D.B. Weiss, 46, and David Benioff, 48, for taking such precautions. Remember how no one saw Jon Snow’s resurrection coming? Yeah, that’s because the shocking moment was kept secret, as it should be! Just wait to watch, people!
Nathalie couldn’t spill much about the upcoming season, which premieres July 16, but she did tease there’s “real danger” ahead. “This season, Missandei has some pretty cool stuff to do,” she said in the interview. “Her role as an advisor is becoming more and more important and the stakes are higher. War is coming, and there’s real danger.”
