Billie Lourd remembered her mother Carrie Fisher on ‘Star Wars’ Day with a super touching photo. If the sight of the actress with her Princess Leia mom wasn’t enough make you emotional, the movie character with them in the pic will!
Billie Lourd, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca walking together! The 24 year-old posted a photo of younger herself snuggled in the arms of her mother Carrie Fisher in honor of Star Wars Day, May 4. She kept her caption super simple with just, “💫👩👧💫 #maythe4thbewithyou.” The picture definitely said more than anything ever could after the tragic loss of Carrie due to a heart attack on December 27, 2016.
Fans have been celebrating May the 4th with adorable memes and costumes, but the day definitely has had a twinge of sadness around it. It was the first Star Wars Day without everyone’s beloved Princess Leia. Billie spoke lovingly about her mother at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida on Apr. 13. She wore a custom Tom Ford dress that perfectly echoed Carrie’s iconic dress from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
“My mom used to say she never knew where Princess Leia ended and Carrie Fisher began,” Billie said onstage. “She was imperfect in many ways but her imperfections and willingness to speak about them are what made her more than perfect. My mom, like Leia, wasn’t ever afraid to speak her mind and say things that might have made most people uncomfortable, but not me and not you. That was why she loved you, because you accepted and embraced all of her.”
