High school students in Illinois got the surprise of their lives when The Chainsmokers unexpectedly showed up to their prom on April 29. They were even treated to a special performance from the EDM duo!
Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, better known as The Chainsmokers, made one fan very popular at his or her high school this weekend! After receiving a letter from a Huntley High School student, the DJs pulled off the most epic surprise by showing up to the school’s prom on April 29, just ahead of their nearby show at Allstate Arena in Chicago.
“Crashed this prom just now,” the guys wrote on Twitter. “It was across the street from our arena show, so why not.” Video from the big night shows a flock of high school students flooding to the entrance of the venue as the duo files inside. Luckily, everyone was able to get a glimpse of the famous pair, as they took the stage and even gave a performance of their hit song, “Closer.” Alex also teased on Twitter that “your prom could be next,” so keep an eye out if you have a dance coming up in a city near where the guys are performing!
“About two weeks ago I got this random phone call [from the band’s filmographer] that I happened to answer,” Huntley High principal explained to the Chicago Daily Herald. “And on the other end this person said, ‘This is going to be the strangest call you’ve ever received ,but one of your students actually sent an email to the manager of the band.’ It was probably the toughest secret I’ve ever kept, because I knew the kids were going to go crazy for it.” Yep, that’s pretty much what happened!
