Well, this is humiliating. The White House took to Snapchat during the Easter Egg Roll to show Betsy DeVos reading to children, and while it may sound sweet, the bitter irony is that they called her the ‘Secretary of Educatuon.’ Yikes! See Twitter’s scathing response, here.
Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, 59, stopped by the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on April 17 to read to some of the kids in attendance. Whoever runs the White House’s official Snapchat tried to capture the fun moment, but ended up screwing it up BIG TIME when they called DeVos the “Secretary of Educatuon.” Maybe that person needs an English lesson or two!
The Snap was quickly deleted and replaced with a quickie interview with DeVos, where she says “I loved reading to all of the kids here at the book nook at the Easter Egg Roll, I had great time with all of them!”
The mistake is dripping with irony considering the fact that many, many Americans felt that DeVos was wildly under-qualified for the position of Secretary of Education, including Stephen Colbert, Seth MacFarlane and Alyssa Milano. The stars took to Twitter to protest when she was confirmed, and Americans were even more upset when she rolled back the student loan protections that President Barack Obama put in place.
Here are some of the hilarious tweets about the situation:

That kind of alternative spelling may become common under Ms DeVos stewardship. Scary. Or is it scarey?

I'd laugh, but I doubt DeVos knows that's spelled wrong. https://t.co/mDs41v9dN8

Of course, we understand that this is probably just an intern who made a little mistake. Unfortunately there is no way to edit a Snapchat once it goes up, but we can’t help but take a little joy in how hilariously ironic this gaffe was. Someone is probably looking for a new job as we speak!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of the Snapchat mess-up? Was it just a little flub that doesn’t matter, or totally unacceptable coming from the White House? Let us know!
