Could the Blossoms and the Andrews really ever see eye-to-eye? Well Archie thought so — or maybe he was blinded by all the red? Here’s what went down this week on ‘ Riverdale.’
This week marked “the official start of maple syrup season,” so naturally the Blossoms were throwing fancy events like an exclusive tree tapping ceremony and a dinner dance. Cheryl and her family enlisted Archie to be her date — in exchange, they would put in a good word at an exclusive music academy, and maybe even leave his dad alone. They even threw in a free guitar. This family and their money!
Naturally, Mr. and Mrs Blossom were only really thinking of themselves; they didn’t believe Cheryl could be the leader that Jason was, so they wanted Archie to be her boyfriend since it looked good. Let’s be honest — it did look good, but after she kissed him, he realized that there wasn’t any free music school worth it. So Archie lost his ride to school and his girlfriend in one night — remember, he was dating Valerie? — but he did get something very valuable.
He finally found out why Polly, who was having twins, was staying in the house on haunted hill. It wasn’t to avoid her family, but actually to spy on the Blossoms; she believed that they had something to do with Jason’s murder and she needed to solve it. That was just the good news that Alice Cooper needed after her husband fired her from their paper and she threw a brick through his window. So, Alice was going to work for the Blue and Gold now, and I can’t wait to see that disaster play out.
On the Lodge front, it was wake up call week. Veronica took in Ethel after realizing her family was having troubles at home… and soon after, learned her dad was to blame for all of their troubles. Apparently Ethel’s father had been working with Hiram and lost a ton of money when he went to jail.
Of course Veronica felt terrible, but even more so when Ethel’s father tried to commit suicide. He survived, but Veronica absolutely broke down in an emotional bathroom scene (serious props to Camila Mendes). She decided at that moment, she could no longer lie for him. She went to the hospital and told Ethel and her mother that her father was the reason they were all there.
Archie also found out that the Blossoms were actually responsible for sending Hiram to jail — so could Hiram have killed Jason? Well, it’s definitely possible, since that’s quite the motive. The one thing the Blossoms didn’t have control over anymore though, was Fred’s land. Hermione finally came clean, revealing that the Lodges were the “anonymous buyers,” and naturally, Fred snapped. He was not happy his family was once again being used. He didn’t want the land to be sold to Clifford, so he decided to keep it; but he did he raise his stake and end his relationship with Hermione… for now.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think about the new target? Could it be Hiram? Let us know.
