Ed Sheeran will be making an appearance in ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7, and he just spilled a MASSIVE spoiler about what’s going to go down in the upcoming episodes. In a world where very few ‘GoT’ spoilers are revealed, we’re really thankful for Ed right now!
“I do know which role I am going to play,” Ed Sheeran, 26, toldDaily Star. “I don’t die in it. I don’t die.”
Whew! Could you imagine an Ed death scene? We’re not sure we’d be able to watch the sweet redhead with the voice of an angel be brutally murdered. Ed continued in the interview, “I’d probably prefer to have sex than die in the show. I’m sure a lot of people are into that but I’m not.”
Game of Thrones is known for brutal death scenes. From the beheading of Ned Stark (Sean Bean) to Joffrey’s (Jack Gleeson) poisoning to The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) smashing Prince Oberyn’s (Pedro Pascal) head in, this show knows how to give a character one heck of a sendoff. Ed’s character just won’t be one of them. Maybe he’ll return in the final season! The show has had a few celeb cameos over the years, including Gary Lightbody, 40, of Snow Patrol, Coldplay’sWill Champion, 38, rock band Sigur Rós, and heavy metal band Mastodon.
The show’s creators, D.B. Weiss, 45, and David Benioff, 46, revealed at SXSW that they had been trying for a long time to get Ed on the hit HBO series. They wanted to get him the gig as a surprise for Maisie Williams, 19, who plays Arya Stark. She’s a huge fan of the “Shape of You” singer!
There’s another burning question fans have about Ed’s appearance: will he sing? Ed hasn’t said anything about it, but the idea is not totally out of the realm of possibility. The members of Sigur Rós portrayed the musicians in the season 3 episode where Joffrey dies. Game of Thrones season 7 premieres July 16 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
