This is just incredible! Matthew Underwood — AKA the snooty high schooler Logan on ‘Zoey 101’ — heroically rescued a baby from a car crash after the infant’s parents passed out from drugs. Here’s exactly what happened.
Matthew Underwood, 26, saved a 4-month-old baby from a crashed car in Port St. Lucie, FL, when the infant’s mom passed out at the wheel after taking heroin, TMZ reports on April 3. Whoa!
Yes, the former Zoey 101 star was one of the first people to get to the scene on March 30, as law enforcement sources tell the site. The baby’s mother reportedly swerved across six traffic lanes before crashing into a tree, and she was “passed out at the wheel with a syringe full of heroin in her arm” when Matthew came upon the family. Just awful.
The baby’s father, meanwhile, was passed out in the backseat of the car…and the infant was in an “unsecured car seat.” WATCH footage from the scary incident below:
Matthew apparently approached the car, and when he saw that the parents were unconscious, he carefully removed the infant and told his brother to call 911. Fortunately, the baby was unharmed. The actor also told TMZ that he chose to take video (above) of the scene before getting involved “in case things went south.”
Finally, it was discovered that the father had a bottle of Alprazolam (generic Xanax) pills, as well as a second syringe and a smoking pipe, as TMZ says. The mother claimed that it had been her first time driving heroin. Both have since been booked for child neglect and drug possession, according to the report, and the baby is with a family member.
