The cutest moment of the ACM Awards officially goes to Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins — he adorable rubbed her growing baby bump in the crowd before accepting his Song of the Year award and we’re SWOONING over it.
Thomas Rhett won the ACM Award for Song of the Year for his hit “Die A Happy Man” on April 2, and since the track is about his wife, Lauren Akins, it was only appropriate that she was the center of attention during his acceptance. Of course, the moment TR’s name was announced, the lovebirds embraced, but before anything, he made sure to place a protective hand on her pregnant belly — it was literally the most adorable thing EVER.
Lauren is currently pregnant with her and Thomas’ first child, but the pair have even more exciting baby news — they’re also about to adopt a child together! The couple announced the big news in February, revealing that they started the adoption process after trying (and failing) to get pregnant for a few months. Lo and behold, once things were finalized, Lauren found out she was expecting! Obviously, this is an incredibly amazing time in their lives.
In case you didn’t know, Thomas and Lauren have actually known each other since elementary school, but didn’t get involved romantically until years later. They tied the knot when they were just 22 years old, and have literally defined #relationshipgoals ever since. Lauren isn’t one for public attention, but she actually played her man’s leading lady in his video for “Die a Happy Man,” and to this day, the footage still has us swooning. Our hearts can’t handle it!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Thomas’ reaction to winning Song of the Year?! Are you as obsessed with his relationship as we are?
