What a game! After an intense tournament full of upsets, the South Carolina Gamecocks came out on top against the Mississippi State Bulldogs to win the women’s NCAA championship trophy! We’ve got all the details on how the stunning game went down.
Wow! The Gamecocks took home the women’s NCAA championship trophy, beating the Bulldogs in the final game of the season. It was an intense game from start to finish and both the Bulldogs and the Gamecocks played hard, but the Gamecocks came out on top with a score of 67-55 on Apr. 2 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
It was a hard fought win for the Gamecocks, but they came out on top thanks to A’Ja Wilson. She really led her team to victory with her impressive shooting and non-stop energy. WATCH a highlight below:
The Mississippi State Bulldogs were the team no one expected to see in the finals. They were expected to get knocked out in the Elite Eight round against Baylor, but managed to eek out the win. The Bulldogs real upset happened in the Final Four against UConn. The Huskies had been on a 111 game winning-streak that stretched back to 2014. Mississippi State fought through to overtime and Morgan William delivered with her buzzer beating shot. They definitely deserved to be in the finals after that 66-64 win.
South Carolina faced their share of challenges, too, throughout the tourney. The Gamecocks played well against Stanford in their Final Four game. Allisha Gray really came up big for her team and scored 18 points in the semifinals. A’jaassisted her teammates with an impressive 19 rebounds during the game. Tonight, it came down to her once again with the win, and the girls could not have looked more thrilled to holding up the championship trophy!
