The March 30 episode of ‘Scandal’ reveals what the heck is going on with Abby. Is she really a traitor? The hour leads us to the shocking moment Huck is shot. Is Huck a goner? Here’s our recap of everything that went down!
It’s election night again, but this time it’s from Abby’s point of view. Abby freezes up the moment Vargas is killed. Amidst all the chaos, Abby is completely still. Her phone keeps ringing, but she won’t answer. She’s in a daze and refuses to acknowledge what’s happening.
Her behavior is noticeable. Fitz finally snaps at her. He tells her that she doesn’t get to break down right now. “You have to stay with me,” he says. “I need you.” Yeah, get your sh*t together, Abby. When she gets back to the White House, she avoids everyone. She finally answers her phone. She knows exactly who had Vargas assassinated and now her hands are stained with his blood by association. They want her to leave, but she knows she can’t leave Fitz.
Flashing back to 60 days before the election, Abby and Fitz are just having a friendly conversation about women. Apparently, so many girls are hitting on him. Abby assures him that these thots are just hot for his office, not him. They also talk about the library that’s going to be built in his name.
Fitz, being the king of the Olitz fandom that he is, suggests Vermont. Abby wants Fitz to do something more after his presidency is over. Abby goes to meet with that shady mystery girl and the other creepy guy about the library, but they don’t want to talk about the library. They offer her $300 million to basically be their puppet. They want her to ditch Fitz and voice her ideas and visions. Abby knows that there must be strings attached. The mystery man and woman basically tell her they’ll help her in any way if she does whatever they say. They dangle the presidency and she’s a goner. Why, Abby, why?!
Oh, The Shade
Abby is still sleeping with Leo! Thank god. I’m so obsessed with Leo and wish we saw more of him. Abby goes to see Cyrus to talk about the one thing she knows he understands: leaving Fitz. Cyrus knows Abby would make a great candidate for president, but if she leaves, she’ll never get Fitz back. He’ll feel abandoned by her. There’s a part of Cyrus who still feels guilty for leaving Fitz. As he says, there’s a piece of you is always with Fitz. He’s got that strong of a hold on people.
Fitz makes his final decision about Vermont. He’s going and wants Abby to tag along. He wants to learn to make jam! That’s when Abby snaps. She doesn’t want him making jam or going fly-fishing or live a boring life in Vermont. “Stop being a child and grow up,” she says. Abby’s out of line and Fitz calls her out on it. He’s given everything he has for this country — his time, his money, his child, and nearly his life. He’s paid his dues. I don’t blame him for wanting to do something for himself. He’s earned the right.
“Olivia is never going to Vermont for you,” Abby tells Fitz, basically ripping out Fitz’s heart and stomping on it. “That was low,” he replies. When Abby realizes that Fitz isn’t going to change his mind, she calls the mystery woman and man to tell them she’s in.
We’re go back to election night right before Vargas was shot. After Vargas wins, Abby gets a call from the mystery woman, who tells her to answer her phone in a few minutes so she can give instructions on what to do next. Vargas is killed and the mystery woman calls. She wants Abby to lock down the hospital Vargas is at. Abby manages to leave the White House and takes the First Lady’s phone when she gets there. Meg, dressed as a nurse, gives a package to Abby. Abby’s told to get the bullets from Vargas’ body and replace them with the ones Meg gives her. She doesn’t want to play, but Leo’s life is at stake.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. The coroner only gets two bullets out before he’s taken away. Abby has to fish out the last one. Talk about GNARLY. Abby does what she’s told and Leo lives. He doesn’t remember anything.
Abby realizes that this mystery group she’s working for is now framing Cyrus for Vargas’ assassination. She knows she has to make it right. She tries to go to David for help. The mystery woman shows up out of nowhere and tells Abby there’s nothing she can do. “Oh, Abby. I’m a real b*tch. You just play one on TV,” the girl says. OMG! Just when things couldn’t get worse for Abby, she finds out the mystery woman and David are dating!
As we’ve seen, Huck comes to Abby to make a deal. He tells her that Jennifer Fields is alive so she’ll let him see Becky. Abby goes to see Cyrus. She tells him that she knows he’s innocent. “I’m going to war for you,” she says. She wants to make a deal with the mysterious duo. She has information they need. She’s willing to give them that information if and only if they get Cyrus out of jail. This all brings us back to Meg killing Jennifer Fields and shooting Huck. Is he OK? What the huck?! I need answers!
