Paramount brought out the best of the best for CinemaCon, including the ENTIRE cast of ‘Baywatch’ to premiere a graphic but hilarious extended look at the film. Plus, George Clooney and Matt Damon took the stage!
Dwayne Johnson, 44, led the charge at the Paramount presentation during CinemaCon 2017 on Tuesday, March 28, held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Baywatch actor came running out through the audience along with a handful of Baywatch lifeguards, all of whom joined him on stage. A moment later he introduced the rest of the cast, including stud Zac Efron, the incredible Priyanka Chopra and Alexandra Daddario, which led to a brand new look at the film. The cast called it the “FU” preview — which stands for “f–king unbelievable”.
In the preview, which was an extended and extremely graphic trailer, we got a closer look at Priyanka’s gun toting villainess. The preview ended with an extended version of the morgue scene, in which Zac’s character has a dead man’s liquid fat dripping into his mouth. The beginning of the scene was the extension, and it shows Dwayne fooling Zac into touching a dead man’s penis to “examine” the body for evidence. It’s pretty racy, but also had the audience in full blown stitches!
Next up, former Vice President Al Gore surprised the audience with the very first look at An Inconvenient Sequel. The trailer for the documentary that focuses heavily on climate change, global warming and how the environment is suffering, put a target directly on current President Donald J. Trump‘s back for his negative stance on it all. The trailer even opened with Trump joking about how we “needed” global warming because it was “freezing” wherever he was at the time. Truly unsettling.
Then things were kicked up a notch when the iconic George Clooney, Matt Damon and Julianne Moore debuted the first trailer for Suburbicon. In their brief but highly entertaining time on stage, George and Matt made some Ocean’s 11 jokes about knocking up casinos, and there was even a lengthy mention of George’s rubber nipples from his Batman movie. Because, you know, obviously.
The first Suburbicon trailer was pretty exciting, revealing a comedic but truly bizarre story. It tells the story of a crime investigation into a woman’s death, the wife of Matt’s character and sister of Julianne’s, but eludes to a potential murder conspiracy. Looks very interesting!
Matt also stuck around to debut the first look at another one of his movies, Downsizing, which is directed by Alexander Payne and co-stars Kristen Wiig. The film looks incredibly strange but fascinating, telling the story of a futuristic world in which humans can choose to “downsize” themselves into smaller versions and live lavishly off of whatever money they already have.
Last but not least, Michael Bay brought almost the entire Transformers: The Last Knight cast out, including Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Hopkins. Michael stated multiple times, once again, that this Transformers is absolutely his last. However he’s said that before, so it’s unclear if he’ll really stick to it this time!
It was revealed that the only human characters returning from the franchise for the “last” film were Mark and Josh Duhamel‘s characters, though sadly Josh couldn’t make CinemaCon. The film was shot entirely in IMAX 3D, and Anthony said that working with Michael for the first time was nothing short of “extraordinary.” New footage from the film revealed a very post-apocalyptic vibe, showing a world truly destroyed by the alien robot battles. With no one in charge and robots still wreaking havoc on humans, Mark does his best to keep things in check — and, more importantly, keep his family safe. It will be interesting to see how this one ends, especially if it really, truly is the final chapter in the Transformers franchise.
