The Battle Rounds continued on the March 27 episode of ‘The Voice,’ which means the coaches were once again forced to make tough eliminations. Follow along with everything that went down in our recap here!
The first Battle of the night is between Blake Shelton’s artists Josh Hoyer and TSoul. With help from Blake and adviser Luke Bryan, the guys put together a performance of “In The Midnight Hour,” and absolutely kill it onstage. Blake can only choose one to keep on his team, though, and he goes with TSoul.
Next up, Autumn Turner and Vanessa Ferguson from team Alicia Keys, advised by DJ Khaled, gear up for their duet. The ladies are given “Killing Me Softly With His Song” to perform. Both Autumn and Vanessa sound incredible when they take the stage, but Alicia goes with Vanessa as the winner. Luckily, Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani both have Steals…and they REALLY want Autumn, so they both push their buttons and fight to get her on their teams. The decision is put into Autumn’s hands, and she picks Adam as her new coach.
Johnny Hayes and Julie Martinez from Adam’s team, with adviser John Legend, are up next. The guys sing “Hard To Handle,” and it’s totally epic, but Adam has to make a decision, and he chooses Johnny, who actually got NO chairs to turn around when he auditioned last season.
Gwen’s artists Caroline Sky and Stephanie Rice are next to perform, and their coach tasks them with singing Sheryl Crow’s emotional “The First Cut Is The Deepest.” It’s a beautiful and powerful performance, and Gwen is devastated to let one of the girls go, but after much consideration, she names Stephanie as the winner. Caroline isn’t going anywhere, though, because Gwen’s boyfriend, Blake, jumps in for the Steal!
Next, Kawan DeBose and Malik Davage from team Adam get set to Battle. The guys get a lot of constructive criticism from their coach and adviser — especially considering they’re singing his song, “All I Have” — and after some rocky rehearsals, it all pays off onstage. Eventually, Adam keeps Malik on his team.
Throughout the night, Blake also picks Enid Ortiz over Valerie Ponzi, Adam goes with Hanna Eyre over Sheena Brook, and Gwen chooses Troy Ramey over Jozy Bernadette. The final Battle of the night is between Alicia’s singers Hunter Plake and Jack Cassidy. The guys totally slay a performance of “Dancing On My Own,” leaving their coach with a difficult decision. Alicia takes a while to make her pick, but winds up keeping Jack around.
Hunter gets a second chance, though, because Gwen and Adam both go for the Steal, and it’s up to the contestant to decide his fate. Both coaches give great pitches, and Hunter decides to choose Gwen.
