Donald Trump offered his support and condolences to United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May on March 22 after a devastating attack outside Parliament left 5 people dead and another 40 injured. We have his official statement, here.
Donald Trump, 70, called U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May, 60, to offer his support following a vicious attack against the citizens of London on March 22. After the act of terrorism that left 40 injured and 5 dead, the White House confirmed that Trump reached out to his British counterpart to see what he could do to help.
The statement says that Trump “offered his condolences for today’s terror attack in London and his praise for the effective response of security forces and first responders. He pledged the full cooperation of the United States Government in responding to the attack and bringing those responsible to justice.”
Press Secretary Sean Spicer further elaborated on Trump’s stance, saying “we obviously condemn that attack in Westminster which the United Kingdom is treating as an act of terrorism and we applaud the quick response that the British police and first responders made to the situation. The victims in this are in our thoughts and prayers. The city of London and Her Majesty’s Government have the full support of the US government in responding to the attack and bringing those to justice who are responsible,” according to ABC.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also sent his heartfelt prayers, saying “we condemn these horrific acts of violence, and whether they were carried out by troubled individuals or by terrorists, the victims know no difference.”
The tragedy unfolded when an individual drove a truck into the general public on Westminster Bridge outside of Parliament and then jumped out to begin stabbing people. Security reacted quickly, but not before 4 people were killed, and 20 were harmed. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.
